Today we wanted to share an emerging trend with you. In the past few months, we’ve noticed an uptick in the number of questions and chatter from San Francisco residents - curious about life in the East Bay.
We can speculate as to why - the coronavirus and associated shelter-in-place mandate has changed lives in many ways. People who had previously relied on neighborhood parks and busy retail corridors, as an extension of their living space suddenly became bound by the walls of their apartment. Home became everything - the place you sleep, work, eat, and recreate.
Aside from covid-19, the motivation to move east has always been there. As special as San Francisco is - and it truly is - our clients and friends are motivated by the relative affordability of east bay neighborhoods.
The east bay is racially, culturally, and geographically diverse. The weather tends to be sunnier and warmer, and public transportation (under normal commuting circumstances) is easy to access.
With the weather warming up, buyers are increasingly interested in larger yards and outdoor spaces. Understandably, that stir-crazy feeling is creeping in we’re noticing a lot of viewers on our social media outlets, such as Instagram, are coming from San Francisco.
We are starting to see a corporate and workplace migration east, as well, and we believe this is the start of a trend for individuals and families.
It's important to us to stay on top of upcoming trends so we can prepare our buyers and sellers. Our job is to be strategic allies in achieving our clients' goals!
